The Emporia State soccer team advances to the second round of the MIAA post season tournament with a 2-0 win over Northeastern State Sunday.
The Lady Hornets scored their first goal in the 33rd minute of play. Angela Palmer scored on a header off a corner kick.
Mackenzie Dimarco scored the second goal in the 61st minute of play. Goalie Tori Bailey recorded the shut out with 3 saves.
Coach Bryan Sailer said they wanted to be the aggressor.
Emporia State will play Northwest Missouri State in the semi-finals on Friday in Warrensburg, Missouri.
Northwest defeated Washburn 3-0.
In the other first round matches Central Missouri defeated Missouri Western 2-0. Fort Hays State defeated Central Oklahoma 2-0.
