CrossWinds Counseling and Wellness has been wanting a campus-style home for its administrative offices and programs. It now has the buildings needed for that approach.
CrossWinds has officially purchased the Earl Center at 1601 State from Emporia State University, dovetailing with its purchase of the former Chi Omega building just west of the Emporia State campus. Terms have not been announced. Development Officer Lucas Moody says the campus setup makes sense.
The Chi Omega building will be used for administration offices and adult therapy services. The Earl Center, meanwhile, will house programs, including work for children, as well as the therapeutic preschool, emergency services, a medication clinic and pharmacy. Renovation is up next for the Earl Center. Moody says the goal is to have all services at its new campus by summer 2024.
This completes CrossWinds’ move out of its previous administrative office space at 1000 Lincoln as part of a lease agreement with Newman Regional Health, as well as five other buildings in Emporia. CrossWinds will continue serving residents through its residential and crisis buildings.
Besides the purchase of the Earl Center, CrossWinds also announced a $750,000 grant from the Sunderland Foundation to support the “Breaking Stigma, Breaking Ground” fundraising campaign. The Sunderland Foundation grant pushes the campaign total to just under $4 million.
