The Emporia State football team extended their winning streak to 6 games in a row with a 35-24 win over Lincoln Saturday.
For Coach Garin Higgins it was a win that did not meet expectations.
Emporia State quarterback Braden Gleason threw for 317 yards and 4 touchdowns but also threw 3 interceptions.
Tommy Zimmerman caught one of the 4 touchdown passes.
Jaylen Varner scored on a 58-yard reception.
Cole Schumacher and Tyler Kahman also caught a touchdown pass.
Billy Ross Jr finished 152 yards rushing and 1 touchdown.
The Hornet defense kept the pressure on Lincoln’s quarterbacks finishing with 6 sacks. Backup defensive lineman Daniel Becker led the way with 2.5 sacks.
With the win, the Hornets improve to 8-2 for the season. They will host Northwest Missouri State next Saturday with a possible playoff spot on the line.
