The Emporia Animal Shelter has its latest adoption special coming up this week.
The shelter will be hosting the free adoption special on Veterans Day Friday with up to four adoptions being sponsored, meaning all adoption fees have been covered. Humane Society of the Flint Hills Director Stephanie Achille says with service animals becoming more and more commonplace for veterans across the nation, providing an additional opportunity for residents and veterans alike to find a “furever friend” seems like a no-brainer.
The adoption special comes nearly a month after an emergency intake that saw more than 80 pets removed from an Emporia home. Achille says all of the pets are now ready for adoption after several weeks of medical attention.
Achille says several residents have already stepped forward and opened their homes.
At this time, the Animal Shelter also has an abundance of straw available for residents to pick up and provide some extra warmth for their outdoor animals during the colder months of the calendar year.
For more information or questions residents can call the shelter at 620-340-6345, find the Emporia Animal Shelter on Facebook or visit Humanesocietyfh.org.
Public hours are 9 am to 3 pm Wednesdays through Sundays.
