The Kansas Wrestling Coaches Association released its preseason rankings for boys and girls wrestling Wednesday.
Emporia High’s boys are preseason ranked No. 9 in Class 5A. The Spartans have four wrestlers that are ranked. Xerarch Tungjaroenkul is the top-ranked wrestler at 150 pounds. Davian White is sixth at 165. Bobby Trujillo is sixth at 190. Lukas Hainline is fourth at 138.
Two Emporia High girls are preseason ranked in Class 6-5A. Virginia Munoz is the top-ranked wrestler at 145. Kiara Flores-Delgado is sixth at 170.
Six area wrestlers are preseason ranked. Four are on the boys side in Class 3-2-1A.
Chase County is represented by two wrestlers. Mitch Budke is ranked sixth at 157 pounds. Cal Kohlmeier is fifth at 175.
Council Grove has two wrestlers that are preseason ranked. Jace Goodman is ranked fourth at 138. Holden Ziegler is ranked third at 190.
On the girls side in Class 4-1A, Burlingame’s Maliyah Lopez is the top-ranked wrestler at 100. Burlington’s Johanna Carrasco is sixth at 190.
The first day of practice for high school wrestling is Monday.
