An approaching cold front will bring chances of thunderstorms Thursday and guaranteed colder weather Friday.
Storms are expected along and ahead of the front, which could well move across the area Thursday morning into early afternoon. The timing is significant because the storm chances diminish if the front moves through the area in the morning hours.
Currently, there is a marginal risk for wind gusts areawide.
Once the front passes, sharply colder weather is expected. Temperatures will be in the mid-60s early Thursday and will eventually fall to around 50 degrees by sunset with blustery conditions all day. Temperatures will continue falling to the mid-20s, and by Veterans Day morning temperatures may be in the upper 20s with wind chills in the teens. Temperatures will struggle to around 40 degrees by Friday afternoon and could drop below 20 degrees Friday night.
