The Emporia State men open the season with a 67-57 win over Arkansas Tech Friday.
Emporia State would close out the first half on an 11-0 run to take a lead they would not give up.
Coach Craig Doty said the run began with the defense.
The Hornets had 4 players score in double-figures. Mayuom Buom led the way with 18 points. Atavian Butler added 16 points. Owen Long finished with 11 points and Alijah Comithier scored 10 points.
The Emporia State men will play Southwestern Oklahoma State Saturday with tipoff at 7:30 pm. The game will be broadcast on MIX 104.9.
