6 am Tuesday: No travel issues so far after light rain-snow mix
Snow fell Monday evening and early Tuesday, but you wouldn’t know it by looking outside.
A light rain-snow mix began shortly before sunset and continued into the early overnight hours. Early projections had up to two inches of snowfall areawide. Nothing actually accumulated in Emporia.
Temperatures will rebound from the upper 20s to the low 40s by late afternoon, but there could be some slick spots before mid-morning. Here’s Lyon County Engineer Chip Woods:
Lyon County crews have sanders ready just in case things get icy through mid-morning. KDOT road crews have treated Interstate 35 and the Kansas Turnpike during the overnight hours. KanDrive.org indicates major highways across our area are wet to seasonal.
