Emporia Rotary Club’s fourth Grocery Grab, held at Good’s Cash Saver early Saturday, led to a good haul for a local family.
Jaree Martinez won the right for a five-minute dash around the store. After handing off that particular responsibility to her partner, Martinez says this was the culmination of a lot of winning recently.
Rotary spokesman Alex Mosakowski says it was a great event.
Good’s Cash Saver store manager James Miller agrees.
The winner had five minutes to shop the store, with one minute in the meat section and non-food items considered off limits. Other finalists included:
*Rochelle Schmidt, who planned to donate winnings to the John and Frances Ice food pantry at Sacred Heart
*Carla Barr, who planned to donate winnings to SOS
*The Salvation Army of Emporia
*C4 Food Pantry
*Emporia Rescue Mission
Proceeds benefit Family Promise of the Flint Hills. Totals are pending.
