The Kansas Jayhawks suffered their first loss of the season, 64-50, to Tennessee in the championship game of the Battle 4 Atlantis Friday night.
Kansas never held the lead in the contest as Tennessee led for 38:14. The Volunteers jumped out to a 7-0 run and led by as many as eight in the first half. The Jayhawks pulled within one, 17-16, with 7:03 left in the first half. Tennessee led 33-26 at halftime.
In the second half, the Jayhawks pulled within three, 37-34, before Tennessee went on an 8-2 run to lead 45-36. Tennessee pulled away and led by as many as 18 points.
Jalen Wilson and Joseph Yesufu led Kansas each scoring 14 points.
The Jayhawks are now 6-1 on the season. They’ll host Texas Southern at 7 p.m. Monday at Allen Fieldhouse.
