Country Christmas is back this year and Chase County added a Christmas silent auction as a new event for the community this Saturday.
Members of the community visited the Old Chase County School to do tours, eat some food and choose from a variety of Christmas items that were part of the first silent auction of the Chase County Old School Development District.
Lee Ann Coester, president of the non-profit Chase County Old School Development District says they were able to gather over 80 items for the silent auction.
Mike Schmidt, a board member of Chase County Old School Development District says all the proceeds of the silent auction will go to help fund the property.
The school closed its doors in 2010 and since then has been vacant. Members of the community decided to repurpose part of the space as a community center and the old school itself is destinated to become apartments.
The proceeds of the Christmas silent auction are still pending.
