The Emporia High boys swimming and diving team will depend on its youth this winter.
Emporia High does have two top returners back. Senior Braxton Higgins returns and seeks his third state championship in diving. Senior Rudy Bedolla is the Spartans’ top swimmer.
Coach Jamie Dawson says it’ll be a learning season for the Spartans.
Higgins says he’s ready to top what he’s already done in two seasons at Emporia High.
Bedolla says swimming one stroke, the freestyle, will help him succeed this season.
Thursday’s meet will be the first home meet at Emporia High for the Spartan boys since the 2020-21 season due to pool renovations that took place during the course of last season. Diving begins at 1 p.m. with the swim portion of the meet beginning at 4 p.m.
