It’s the busiest time of the year for the US Postal Service, and it’s ready, according to Strategic Communications Specialist Mark Inglett of the Kansas City office.
Inglett tells KVOE News the Postal Service has added machinery, technology and personnel to meet the holiday demand.
Last year, the Postal Service accepted over 13 billion letters, cards, flats and packages for delivery.
Suggested mailing deadlines haven’t changed much since previous years:
*Retail Ground and First-Class Mail service deadlines for the continental United States is Dec. 17. That deadline also holds for First-Class Mail to Alaska and Hawaii, but Retail Ground needs to be already sent to Alaska.
*Priority Mail deadline is Dec. 19 for the continental United States and Dec. 17 for Alaska and Hawaii
*Priority Mail Express deadline is Dec. 23 for the continental United States and Dec. 21 for Alaska and Hawaii.
Mailing and shipping dates vary for overseas packages. Click here for a link to the Postal Service’s information page.
Office hours will likely be set soon. We’ll have that information as it’s announced on KVOE and KVOE.com.
