CrossWinds Counseling and Wellness has been in the news regularly this year for its upcoming consolidation of six local buildings into two — the Chi Omega building and the Earl Center. But it has also been working to expand services, in large part through the benefits of a major federal grant.
CEO Amanda Cunningham detailed some of the benefits of the two-year, $2.3 million grant on KVOE’s Talk of Emporia recently:
The grant, announced almost a year ago, officially changes CrossWinds and other participants to the Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic model, but Cunningham says one of the goals — expanded partnerships with numerous health or other community groups — has been in place for years. Another goal has been to reach underserved communities, including the Hispanic population and residents working in agriculture or related businesses.
When it comes to moving most local services to the former Chi Omega and Earl Center buildings, Cunningham says all services should be consolidated by summer 2024.
