Hearings are coming next month for a man accused in Lyon County of battery on and/or interfering with law enforcement on three separate occasions last year.
Lance Fessler was cleared for preliminary hearings in all three cases after a competency hearing Friday. Judge Jeff Larson ruled Fessler was competent to stand trial following a report from Larned State Hospital.
Case details have not been posted to the state’s online court portal, but Fessler is accused of aggravated battery on law enforcement and unlawful discharge of a firearm as part of an alleged incident Feb. 10, 2021. He’s also charged with interference after an alleged incident March 22, 2021 — and he’s accused of interference after an alleged incident July 30, 2021.
Separately, a plea hearing is on the docket in a Lyon County drug distribution case.
John Jeremiah Rutherford is accused of distributing up to 100 grams of methamphetamine during an alleged incident Sept. 21. He’s also accused separately of meth, marijuana and marijuana possession and interference with law enforcement.
The hearing is at 11 am Tuesday before Judge Lee Fowler.
In addition, a defendant in a Lyon County aggravated burglary case is set to be in court next month as early proceedings continue.
Friday’s pretrial hearing for David Lee Brown was pushed to Jan. 5 due to a recent illness, according to Brown’s defense attorney, Clark Allemang.
Brown is accused of aggravated burglary and aggravated battery after an alleged incident in February 2021. Brown’s accused of entering somebody else’s home when the alleged victim was sleeping and trying to choke the victim.
