Two big wins for the Emporia State basketball teams Saturday.
The Emporia State men defeated number 1 ranked Northwest Missouri State 74-65.
Coach Craig Doty was happy to get the win.
Owen Long scored a game-high 29 points to lead Emporia State.
Alijah Comithier added 19 points to the win.
It was the 3rd straight win over Northwest Missouri State for the Emporia State men. The Hornets improved to 9-1 for the season and 3-1 in the MIAA.
The Emporia State women outscored Northwest Missouri State 64-56. Tre’Zure Jobe scored a game-high 23 points to lead the Lady Hornets to the win.
Coach Toby Wynn said another strong defensive effort helped lead to the win.
The Emporia State women are now 8-1 for the season and 4-0 in the MIAA.
Both the women and men host Missouri Western Monday afternoon. Game times will be 1:30 for the women and 3:30 for the men.
