A preliminary hearing is coming next month in a Lyon County attempted murder case.
Logan Casteel, age 37 of Fredonia, was arrested after allegedly shooting Justin Smith at 625 Road 160 on Oct. 17. The first-degree attempted murder charge has an alternate of aggravated battery, great bodily harm or disfigurement.
The prelim is Jan. 11 before Judge Doug Jones.

A motions hearing is coming Monday in an attempted murder case near Emporia.
Logan Casteel appears before Judge Doug Jones at 1:30 pm.
Casteel is charged with one count of attempted first-degree murder after allegedly trying to kill Justin Smith as part of an incident near Emporia on Oct. 17. Casteel, 37, was arrested after a brief manhunt following an alleged shooting at 625 Road 160.
Casteel has a preliminary hearing Jan. 11.
