The Emporia State men’s basketball team held on for a 75-73 win over Central Missouri Saturday.
Emporia State led by 11 points in the first half and had to hold off a late rally by Central Missouri.
Coach Craig Doty said they found a way to win.
Alijah Comithier led the Hornets with a double-double of 22 points and 10 rebounds.
Owen Long finished with 21 points after hitting 3 straight threes to start the game.
With the win, the Emporia State men are now 12-3 for the season and 6-3 in the MIAA.
Central Missouri won the women’s game 80-64. The 7th-ranked Jennies did not pull away until the 4th quarter. Emporia State had cut the deficit to 4 with over 8 minutes to play in the game but would not get closer. Emporia State Coach Toby Wynn said it was a better effort.
Tre’Zure Jobe scored a game-high 30 points to lead Emporia State. The Lady Hornets fall to 9-6 season and 4-5 in the MIAA.
Both the women and men play at Pittsburg State on Thursday.
