Hi, This is Bobbi Sauder wanting to give you something to think about. Composting is a great way to control your kitchen waste and consider an eco-friendly lifestyle year-round. However, the idea of composting was so overwhelming to me and adding one or many more jobs to my list of chores; Quite frankly, I wasn’t interested! Then I saw an infomercial (WHICH I rarely am interested in) of an electric composter that can sit on your countertop and only took a few hours to compost. I hear you, I don’t like clutter or things on my countertop either! I was intrigued and started researching this idea of composting. It said it would transform your kitchen scraps into nutrient-rich dirt to put on your plants or gardens. I was concerned about smell, bugs, any uninvited guest insects, increase in electrical, and it was expensive to try on a whim.
After more reading and research, I purchased the Lomi composter. I was amazed! The composter uses heat, oxygen, and abrasion to break down the scraps within hours. Instead of tossing the banana peels or leftovers in the trash. You just toss them in the Lomi bucket with a lid on it. I couldn’t believe the scraps actually turned into natural fertilizer. The end product looked like dry coffee grounds or dirt. And it didn’t smell bad! What used to go down the garbage disposal or in the trash was actually going to act as a fertilizer for my gardens. I just dump the composted end product on my plants outside or inside. The composter uses filters, which you add more only after about 45 uses. Pods help break down the waste and you throw one in each time you use it or you don’t.
This composting is backed by science. Avoids food waste in landfills that helps decrease the amount of methane (which is a greenhouse gas with 80 times the warming power of carbon dioxide) that is produced from food waste breaking down in the environment. With the indoor composter, the food waste undergoes aerobic breakdown (in the presence of oxygen) meaning no methane is produced in your home. I am so excited about this product, in telling Steve and our neighbors and friends, that Steve said, You do something to think about next week. So here I am! No more smelly trash cans and I actually believe I am helping our planet.
Something for You to think about! I’m Bobbi Sauder. Enjoy your day.
