Emporia City Commissioners could potentially amend a previous resolution declaring the city’s intent to issue bonds for a planned housing development during their regular meeting Wednesday.
Commissioners previously approved the resolution declaring the city’s intent to issue $3.5 million in bonds for Capitol Holdings LLC. which is planning the construction of 12 residential duplexes. Wednesday’s resolution, if approved, would increase the bond amount to just over $4.6 million for the construction of four additional units at 1023 and 1025 Merchant Street.
Commissioners will also hold a public hearing for the purpose of appealing a ruling from the State of Kansas Historic Preservation Office for the Plumb Place Property at 224 E. Sixth Ave. Commissioners will also consider bids for resurfacing and repair work at the Jones Aquatic Center as well as the purchase of new features for the JAC splash pad.
During their study session, commissioners will receive the Emporia Land Bank’s annual report for 2022 which will follow a request from the Land Bank for urban side park property. An amendment to city code, the implementation of a rental registration program and the 2023 street rehabilitation street segments and add alternates will also see discussion.
The meetings will begin at 11 am inside of the Municipal Courtroom at White Auditorium.
