The Emporia High girls basketball team had its undefeated season end Tuesday night against Manhattan.
The Lady Spartans entered the game as the top-ranked team in Class 5A and fell in double overtime to the Lady Indians, 58-55.
Emporia High led 9-3 after the first quarter but were outscored 25-11 in the second and trailed 28-20. The Lady Spartans trailed by as many as 11 and forced overtime.
The Lady Spartans led by as many as six in the first overtime period, but Manhattan forced a second overtime with a 3-pointer.
Coach Carolyn Dorsey says the Lady Spartans made mistakes down the home stretch.
Rebecca Snyder led Emporia High with 26 points.
The Emporia High girls are now 10-1 on the season and 3-1 in the Centennial League. Up next is the Glacier’s Edge Tournament which begins next Thursday.
