The Salvation Army of Emporia says it is investigating several thefts at its thrift store, and local leadership is asking residents to change their donation habits for the foreseeable future.
The Salvation Army hasn’t specified the time period involved, but it has posted several photos of alleged thefts on the thrift store Facebook page. The agency says it is working with Emporia Police to find those allegedly involved.
Prior donation policy has allowed for round-the-clock donations in a parking lot immediately south of the thrift store building. The Salvation Army is now asking for donations during normal business hours of 10 am to 5:30 pm weekdays until further notice.
If you have information about these incidents, call the Lyon County Emergency Communications non-emergency line at 620-343-4225. The Salvation Army says residents can also call the thrift store number at 620-343-3166.
