A Lyon County rape case will move to a preliminary hearing next month at the earliest.
This week’s hearing for Jovani Sotelo was moved to Feb. 15 after a request from defense attorney Paul Dean, who wanted more time to to study the case after being recently appointed and work around current scheduled hearings.
Sotelo faces one count of rape and two of aggravated criminal sodomy after an alleged incident earlier this month. All three counts accuse Sotelo of illegal sexual activity with somebody who was incapable of consent due to alcohol or drugs.
Judge Lee Fowler will preside.
Separately, court hearings are coming in the next few weeks for two people accused in Lyon County District Court of aggravated child endangerment.
Larry Jan Williams and Christina Marie Williams are both accused of two child endangerment counts, along with possession of marijuana, methamphetamine and paraphernalia after alleged activity in mid-December.
Arraignment hearings are next after both defendants waived their preliminary hearings in separate actions this week. Larry Williams has his hearing Feb. 16 before Judge Lee Fowler. Christina Williams has her hearing March 3 before Judge Laura Miser.
