Status conferences are coming next month in the cases of two people accused of distributing drugs within 1,000 feet of a school in Eureka.
Attorneys have been appointed in the connected criminal cases against Jennifer Marie Hess and Ashton David Hess. Christopher Pate will represent Jennifer Hess, while Joy Williams will represent Ashton Hess.
Jennifer Marie Hess faces 10 counts, including but not limited to marijuana distribution and psilocybin distribution, both within 1,000 feet of a school; cocaine possession; aggravated child endangerment; and interference with law enforcement. Ashton Hess is charged with eight counts, including but not limited to marijuana and psilocybin distribution, both within 1,000 feet of a school; possession of paraphernalia with intent to distribute; and interference with law enforcement.
Additional court dates have not been scheduled.
Meanwhile, two law enforcement pursuit cases are moving forward in Greenwood County District Court.
A man accused of leading a chase in mid-January will return to court next month.
Lafayette Jerome Washington faces two counts of aggravated assault, along with single counts of flee and elude, criminal damage and reckless driving.
Washington is accused of leaving a developing traffic stop on Jan. 14. Further details about the case have not been divulged.
Also, an alleged chase beginning in Greenwood County on New Year’s Eve now has court dates attached.
*Brandon Bennett faces 11 criminal counts, including distribution of up to 100 grams of methamphetamine, meth and paraphernalia possession, flee and elude, vehicle theft, criminal damage and driving while suspended.
*Robert Gene Walker faces five counts, including flee and elude, and possession of marijuana, methamphetamine and paraphernalia.
*Elizabeth Rodriquex has been charged with meth possession and interference with law enforcement.
Greenwood County deputies say they tried a traffic stop on US Highway 400, but Bennett fled through Fall River, ultimately leading a chase into Elk and Wilson counties, where the trio was arrested.
Bennett and Walker have separate status hearings Feb. 3, while Rodriquex has a status hearing March 3. All hearings will be in Eureka.
