The second class of Chips con Salsa is ready to get participants moving on the dance floor this Friday night.
The five-part class series caught the attention of the community and is currently sold out until May. But for those who signed up this upcoming class will use the basic steps they learned previously and move to some advanced dancing. Dance instructor Rebeca Herrera says each class is part of a choreography that can be used as a basis to dance salsa.
Hispanics of Today and Tomorrow Representative Sally Sanchez says that Chips con Salsa allows the community to learn more about the Hispanic culture and get immersed in it through dancing.
The next class of Chips con Salsa is this Friday, Feb.10 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Lyon County History Center. The next classes will be on March 3, March 24, April 21, and the finale on May 6 for the Cinco de Mayo celebration with the presentation of a live salsa band.
There are plans to expand this dancing project and later in the year implement more dancing classes related to other Hispanic/Latino music genres like bachata, cumbia and others. For more information visit https://www.emporiaspanishspeakers.com/
