President Joe Biden delivered his second State of the Union address Tuesday night, discussing longstanding policy points and also mentioning recent world developments.
The president referenced the issues that unfolded last week when a Chinese balloon — believed by the United States to be a surveillance tool — crossed the country before it was shot down near the South Carolina coast.
Kansas Republicans in Congress like Roger Marshall believe that whole incident demonstrated weakness, not strength.
Congressman Jake LaTurner also said the president’s “lack of strength on the world stage continues to threaten our national security.” Senator Jerry Moran referenced China’s capabilities to “threaten and intimidate the United States and our allies” as part of his response.
Separately, the president says the ongoing war on drugs needs to have a major push to stop fentanyl.
Marshall, Moran and LaTurner all criticized Biden for what they say are policy failures to stop the fentanyl flow.
