A Morris County drug distribution case is set for a preliminary hearing Thursday.
Nickelus Hal Tanner is charged with single counts of drug distribution within 1,000 feet of a school, drug and paraphernalia possession and a traffic offense after an alleged incident shortly before Christmas.
Tanner was arrested after a traffic stop near Council Grove Elementary School on Dec. 23. Council Grove Police officers say a positive alert from a K-9 led to a search of the vehicle, which led to the alleged presence of drugs and paraphernalia.
Co-defendant Amber Mefford is facing drug and paraphernalia possession charges from the same alleged incidents and has a plea hearing Feb. 15. She’s also facing drug and paraphernalia possession charges, as well as child endangerment charges, after a separate alleged incident Dec. 19. A plea hearing in that case is also coming Feb. 15.
Separately, a Morris County burglary case dating back nearly two years will have a preliminary hearing in Council Grove on Thursday.
Eric James Fanning has a hearing at 2 pm. He’s officially accused of aggravated burglary, aggravated assault and criminal trespass.
Court documents indicate Fanning used a knife as part of an alleged burglary in May 2021 at a convenience store in Council Grove.
