Lyon County Emergency Communications says emergency services will not be delayed when a planned network upgrade takes place Thursday.
The upgrade is for the department’s 911 call-handling system and will force the system to “go down” for an undetermined length of time.
Residents who call 911 during the upgrade may have a longer ring time than normal but are urged to stay on the line. Calls will be answered by Franklin County 911 in Ottawa and will be relayed back to Lyon County using the statewide radio system.
Residents needing to use the Lyon County Emergency Communications non-emergency line can continue to use 620-343-4225.
