Friday’s special meeting for the USD 253 Emporia Board of Education has an agenda item that could lead to an outside consulting contract to fill the district’s assistant superintendent for business operations position.
The board is meeting at 3:30 pm. Following an executive session on personnel matters, the board will discuss a nearly $60,000 contract with ESSDACK for “a qualified and experienced professional staff member” to officially serve as the district’s finance and operations consultant — but also to fill the administrative position suddenly opening this week when Rob Scheib, the district’s assistant superintendent for business, was placed on administrative leave Wednesday night. If approved, the contract will begin Monday and run through the end of the academic year June 30.
Another related step is planned Friday. The board has to update its list of people authorized to transfer and withdraw funds, issue instruction letters and take other actions related to the funds in the district’s account with the Kansas Municipal Investment Pool. Board members could approve a resolution to that effect.
The meeting is at Mary Herbert Education Center.

The USD 253 Emporia Board of Education will be convening for a special meeting Friday afternoon.
The meeting’s announcement comes a day after USD 253 Assistant Superintendent of Business Operations Rob Scheib was placed on paid administrative leave, however, it is unclear if the meeting has anything to do with that matter. The meeting is scheduled for 3:30 pm at the Mary Herbert Education Center.
An agenda for the meeting has yet to be posted. Stay with KVOE, KVOE.com and KVOE social media for more information as it is made available.
