Flint Hills Technical College hosted En Esto Juntos Family Night last week to outreach the Hispanic community with higher education opportunities.
The event was planned for several months with a focus on reaching not only students but also their parents. Academic Advisor Eva de Hoyos says she proposed the idea because is important to close the barrier language gap.
Admission Specialist Julio Hernandez says he understands that going to college can be difficult and as a first-generation student he shares his story to motivate Hispanic students to pursue higher education.
De Hoyos says the feedback was positive from the families and students who attended the event and that now the next step is to work closely with the admission team.
