Several agencies serving part or all of the KVOE listening area will obtain special funding to help reduce the number of children in the state’s foster care system.
Kansas Governor Laura Kelly has announced nearly $20 million in Family First Prevention grants designed to both keep families together and stop children from entering the foster care system.
The grants as announced by the Kansas Department for Children and Families and affecting the KVOE listening area include:
Substance Abuse Prevention
*Kansas Children’s Service League: $310,344.98 for its Parent-Child Assistance program
*Saint Francis Ministries: $700,000 for the Seeking Safety program
Parent Skill Building
*Kansas Children’s Service League: $1.555 million for its Healthy Families America program
*Saint Francis Ministries: $4.798 million for its Family-Centered Treatment program
Mental Health
*TFI Family Services: $1.15 million for its Parent Child Interaction Therapy
Kinship Navigation
*Kansas Legal Services: $324,158 for its Kids to Kin program
Primary Prevention Programs
*Kansas Legal Services: $1,094,577 for the Parent Advocate program
