Emporia Fire responded to a reported structure fire in east Emporia early Friday, but there was no fire to fight.
Emporia Fire, along with Americus and Olpe, were dispatched to 336 Dorset shortly after 4 am and found light smoke in the house. Firefighters say the smoke was caused by a furnace motor malfunction.
Americus and Olpe crews were canceled before arriving. The house was ventilated and Emporia Fire returned to service.
