Conversation can be the key to a healthy relationship.
February is recognized as teen dating violence awareness month and as numbers, unfortunately, rise in the category, awareness, and conversation are more relevant than ever.
Danielle Armitage of SOS encourages this conversation to be one every parent has with their child, even though it can be an awkward one. She notes for children, adults are the biggest behavioral influences around them.
Not only does Armitage encourage parents to look out for their children, but also for friends to look out for each other.
Through teaching people the signs and forms of abuse, teen dating violence can be prevented or stopped.
SOS is offering a Survivor Support Group for Teens on Tuesdays at 4:30 p.m. for teens to build connections after trauma through art, games, and activities.
For additional information, help, support, or resources, SOS can be contacted at 343-8799 or by visiting their website at www.soskansas.org.
