To the victors go the spoils, and not just with the Super Bowl game itself.
Mike Mercer made a special stop at Triad Leasing on Thursday to pick up the grand prize in Country 101.7 FM’s annual Watch the Chiefs promotion: a 55-inch 4K LED smart TV valued at over $700. Mercer won the TV when the Chiefs beat the Philadelphia Eagles in Super Bowl 57, and he tells KVOE News “it was a good game to watch.”
Mercer mentioned tentative plans to hand the TV off to a daughter, but he says that conversation hasn’t happened yet.
Pat Engberg of Triad says it’s a great promotion for his business.
There were 17 qualifiers this year, a change from the longstanding number of 16 after the NFL added a regular-season game to teams’ schedules this year. With only 14 playoff teams this year, three contestants picked the dreaded “Better Luck Next Year” squares and were promptly eliminated as part of the selection show last month.
Throughout the NFL regular season, listeners to Country 101.7 FM had a chance to name two mystery players during each game. Successful participants then qualified for the chance to win the television and also received a free one-topping pizza from Gambino’s.
