Family Promise of the Flint Hills is expecting a busy caseload this year, its second full year of serving the area. It’s also beginning the search for a new director to guide the program.
Family Promise is designed to help families with children who are at risk of homelessness. As part of KVOE’s Newsmaker segment Friday, Board Secretary Amanda Cunningham said the new director needs several qualities.
Board member Bev Long says Family Promise helps at-risk families in several ways, whether through new employment, short-term shelter assistance or other means.
Current director Jessica Corpening will have her last day on the job next week as she takes a human resources position with the Kansas Jobs for America’s Graduates program.
Besides a new director, Family Promise needs volunteers and it needs board members. Residents wanting to help Family Promise can call 620-208-7774 or go online to familypromiseoftheflinthillsks.org.
