Recorded new COVID-19 cases in Lyon County are at their lowest weekly numbers in months.
On Wednesday, Lyon County Public Health reported 11 new cases, following 14 new cases in the March 1 report and 23 new cases in the Feb. 22 report. The March reports fall below the weekly range of 20-70 new cases that had held in place since September.
Deaths held steady at 135.
As far as flu traffic, the Kansas Syndromic Surveillance Program — which uses a statewide percentage of hospital emergency department or urgent care visits — has not been updated since Feb. 25. With that report, flu accounted for 0.2 percent of all emergency hospital trips. Based on percentage data, flu peaked in late November, when nearly 8 percent of emergency hospital trips were linked to the virus.
