Thursday’s rain came too late to have any impact on the US Drought Monitor map announced Thursday morning, and the rain from earlier in the week had no effect on the weekly update.
The north half of the KVOE listening area remains free of all drought designations as part of Thursday’s weekly update from the US Drought Monitor. Most of the area’s remaining territory is listed as abnormally dry, but moderate drought is still evident across the southern half of Coffey County and part of northern Greenwood County. Severe drought covers a thin strip in southern Coffey and north-central Greenwood County. Extreme and exceptional drought still cover most of Greenwood County.
