A Melevern man is facing drug possession charges in Osage County following a traffic stop Friday.
According to a news release from Osage County Sheriff Chris Wells, a sheriff’s deputy initiated a traffic stop at East 325th Street near Melvern after observing an undisclosed traffic violation. A K9 unit was deployed during the stop and narcotics were allegedly located in the vehicle driven by 59-year-old Rodney L. Purcell.
Purcell was taken into custody on charges of methamphetamine, marijuana and paraphernalia possession and transporting an open container. Purcell is being held at the Osage County Jail at last word.
Formal charges are currently pending.
