This is a huge week for the Emporia Saint Patrick’s Committee.
The community group is ending its first-ever online auction Tuesday evening. Over 55 items are currently up for bid on the group’s Facebook page, and spokesperson Barb Lowery says the online option has a component designed to drive up bidding at the very last minute.
The auction begins closing at 8 pm Tuesday. Lowery says committee members are “quite pleased” with the bids so far.
The end of the auction is actually the prelude to the committee’s annual Saint Patrick’s activities, which will be Saturday and will include a parade and gathering at Town Royal.
Funding from the auction and business sponsorships will benefit 12 different community groups based in and around Emporia. Committee organizers will be on KVOE’s Talk of Emporia at 11:06 am Wednesday with an update.
