Two area communities will see sidewalk improvement projects beginning this week after approval by the Kansas Department of Transportation.
Work is set to begin Monday in Madison and Gridley, with projects including the installations of handicapped-accessible ramps, curb and gutter, signs and pavement markings.
Madison will have work done on Kansas Highway 58 at Second and Third Streets, as well as the turn at Fourth and at Madison Avenue. Gridley’s projects will involve K-58 at Main, First and South.
KDOT says these projects will involve one side of the road at a time and will not have any significant travel impacts.
Burlington Construction Inc of Burlington won the project with a nearly $94,000 bid. Overall work should end in June, weather permitting.
