As the USD 252 Honor Flight gets ready for its trip this April, it also wants to honor those veterans who are no longer here with a special program.
This year the Flags for Heroes Program will take pictures of deceased veterans to commemorate them in Washington D.C. Coordinator of the Flags for Heroes Program Rita Andersen says they will take pictures of veterans from World War II, Korea and Vietnam and added them to an individual picture board that will be photographed at their respective war memorials.
The picture board costs $40 and will contain information about the veteran’s name, dates of service and war they fought, and branch of service. Members of the community that share the pictures of a veteran should include a return address where the picture board will be mailed.
Andersen says members of the community who want to participate in the Flags for Heroes Program need to send a 5×7 high-resolution digital copy of the picture of the deceased veteran.
For more information or to send your picture for the Flags for Heroes Program, call Andersen at 620-343-0729 or by email at andersen.mikerita7@gmail.com
