Nearly 800 athletes from 20 schools from Kansas and Missouri will compete in the Emporia State High School Relays Friday at Welch Stadium.
Emporia State track and field coach Steve Blocker says it’s a meet they enjoy hosting.
One of the teams participating will be Emporia High.
Senior Fred Jackson is coming off a first-place finish in the 400m at Topeka West.
Senior Elizabeth Willhite is coming off a first-place finish in the 1,600m at Topeka West.
Besides Emporia High, area athletes from Eureka, Marais des Cygnes Valley and Waverly will also compete.
Field events will begin at 3 p.m. with track events to begin at 4:15 p.m.
