The population of Allen went from a few hundred to a few thousand Saturday thanks to the 23rd annual North Lyon County Youth Association Fish Fry.
Organizer Kylie DeDonder says more than ever community support for the NLCYA is extremely important with childcare seeing a greater demand than it has in more than 20 years.
She says by supporting the fish fry, and by extension the youth association, residents are supporting future community growth as youth education and programming is a cornerstone for every community.
DeDonder adds they are always ready and willing to feed their community year after year and when it comes to the fish fry, their “community” far exceeds the Allen city limits.
An estimated 800 lbs of fish was cooked and served over the course of the event. Proceeds will go to benefit “operational costs” for the NLCYA.
Totals will be announced at a later time.
