The Department of Veterans Affairs has made accessing medical services and resources much simpler for area veterans.
During a monthly update on KVOE’s Morning Show Monday, Communications Specialist for the Eastern Health Care System Shawn Hoffman discussed the My HealtheVet program. The online personal health record portal gives veterans virtual access to healthcare services at no cost.
Hoffman explains all veterans must do is register for the program online at Myhealth.va.gov. Once they have done so they will have a “basic account” and will go through an identity verification process.
Once the process is complete veterans will be upgraded to a premium account and will have access to all portal services. Hoffman ran through just some of the services included.
According to Hoffman, approximately 55 percent of the patient population in the Eastern Kansas Healthcare System is enrolled in the online portal. He says they hope to reach the remaining 45 percent in the coming months.
