The Emporia High track and field teams both finished second at the Lansing Invitational Friday.
The Lady Spartans recorded 125 points, finishing 37 points behind team champion Topeka-Seaman. The Spartans finished with 82.50 points, finishing 26 points behind team champion Seaman.
On the girls side, Emporia High had six second place finishes. Rebecca Snyder in the high jump, Elizabeth Willhite in the 1,600m and 800m, Micah Sheffy-Harris in the 3,200m, the 4x800m team of Maryn True, Bailee Van Sickle, Leanna Lewis, and Sofia Ruvalcaba and the 4x400m relay team of Lauren Williams, Harley Smith, Elizabeth Willhite and Lexsey DeWitt.
On the boys side, Emporia High had one first-place finish with the 4x400m relay team of Blake Spellman, Cooper Rech, Daghyn True and Fred Jackson. The Spartans had three second-place finishes. Jeremiah Huber in the pole vault, Parker Leeds in the triple jump, and RJ Tabares in the 110 hurdles.
Up next for the Lady Spartans and Spartans will be the Kansas Relays next Friday and Saturday in Lawrence.
