Area firefighters spent much of their Easter afternoon battling grass fires.
A pair of fires were reported early Sunday afternoon. The first was located in the 600 block of Road 400, roughly 14 miles east of Admire.
The second fire was reported in the 500 block of Road 290, 17 miles northwest of Emporia and a little more than 6 miles north of Americus.
A second fire was reported just before 6:30 pm in the 600 block of Road 400.
No injuries or structural damage were reported with either fire. Additional details are pending.
Sunday’s activity follows a handful of fires from Saturday afternoon. Locations included
*12:50 pm: 200 block Road 392
*2:25 pm: 2200 block Road K
*2:50 pm: 2000 block Road 170
*3:20 pm: Roads 330 and L
*6:40 pm: 1300 block Road 200
*7:50 pm: Kansas Highway 99 at Road 350
An air quality advisory remains in place across the entire listening area until further notice, according to the Kansas Department of Health and Environment.
