Monday’s risk of severe weather remains low, although it has expanded slightly when compared to early-morning outlooks.
The Storm Prediction Center has a marginal risk along and south of a line from Elmdale to Americus to Osage City. Areas along and south of US Highway 54 in central and southern Greenwood County are in a slight risk.
Hail to the size of golf balls and wind gusts as high as 60 mph are possible, although unlikely, with storms in the area through early Monday evening.

6:10 pm Monday: Low-end severe risk ahead Monday, very high fire danger likely returns by Tuesday
A low-end risk for severe weather is part of the weather picture Monday.
Areas along and south of the Kansas Turnpike and Interstate 35 are in a marginal risk for wind and hail if storms develop and strengthen. Showers and storms are possible at times through the day, although most of the day should be dry.
The storm chances and increased humidity may not have a huge impact on the air quality after a load of planned grass fires have been lit since Thursday due to relatively light breezes or calm conditions. An air quality advisory continues until further notice through the Kansas Department of Health and Environment.
While the air quality may improve as wind speeds pick up as soon as Tuesday, the fire danger may increase as well. Sunshine, temperatures in the 80s and breezy to windy conditions should mean a high to very high fire danger and recommendations not to burn for most of the week.
