An apparent medical condition led to an injury crash near Emporia on Monday evening.
The crash developed at 8:15 pm on the Kansas Turnpike at mile marker 129.6 northbound, or two miles northeast of the Emporia tollgate. Troopers with the Kansas Highway Patrol says 62-year-old Raymond Shade of Oak Grove, Missouri, developed low blood sugar and may have lost consciousness. His car drifted off the highway before hitting the center barrier wall.
Shade was taken by ambulance to Newman Regional Health with suspected minor injuries. He was wearing his seatbelt.
