Get ready to run with your dog or just by yourself and friends for the 2nd Annual Doggy Dash organized by Emporia State First Generation Student Organization later this month.
This year, the ESU First Generation Student Organization will add new features to their Doggy Dash event like tabling for PetSense and a collaboration with the Emporia Animal Shelter & Humane Society of the Flint Hills.
Emporia State graduate student and President of ESU First Generation Student Organization Layna Adams says this is a 5k run around the ESU campus but due to road construction, they change certain parts of the route.
This is the biggest fundraiser the First Generation Student Organization does to support the more than 900 first-generation students at ESU.
Adams says that is a fun event to spend with family, friends, and pets. All the proceeds will go to support graduation cords for first-generation students.
Members of the community can pre-register for the Doggy Dash to receive a t-shirt and a doggie bandana by April 12. The registration fee is $25 and the event will take place on April 29 at 2 p.m. with the race starting at Plumb Hall.
Members of the community can still sign up on the day of the event but there will not be t-shirts or doggie bandanas included it.
