After abnormally calm conditions across the KVOE listening area for several days over the past week, the wind returns to close out the week. So does a critical fire danger.
Dry, warm and windy conditions will elevate the fire danger Wednesday and Thursday. Morris County is in a red flag warning Wednesday, but Lyon, Morris, Osage and Wabaunsee counties are in a fire weather watch for Thursday. Fire weather watches are often a precursor to red flag warnings and automatic burn bans for affected counties.
Meanwhile, Friday now has a slight risk of severe weather. The National Weather Service is expecting storms to move across the area in the evening and overnight hours. All hazards are possible in the current forecast.
